Tonight, I went to a “Portrait Photography on the Mac” talk at the Apple Store in London’s Covent Garden. It’s always good to listen to other photographers and how they do things and you never know when you might learn something new. The talk was centered around “tethered shooting” i.e. linking the camera to the computer via a cable (in this case to a Mac Book Pro) and watching the images appear almost instantaneously on a display (as in the photo above).
The beauty of many of the talks at the Apple Store is that not only are they free, but they are informal and often very informative.
I took the chance to make a few images of the talk of course. They can be found here.

With the days getting shorter and shorter, the chance to make photographs in daylight is harder and harder. However, that does not mean that outdoor photography has to come to an end during the late autumn and winter months. I found myself walking through London’s busy Knightsbridge shopping area, the home to the world famous Harrods department store. The building was clad in festive lighting (actually, it is clad in lighting all year round, but with Christmas approaching, the lighting seems more apt).
Nearly all of the UK’s public sector workers were on strike today. Protests and demonstrations took place throughout the country as public sector workers voiced their opinions on pension reform. I decided to visit London’s Victoria Embankment to see whether I could capture the feeling of the event. Images can be seen
